Hi Blogger Friends. I had a very bad yesterday. So bad in fact, the Stable is about ready to be put on TIME OUT!! There are two little mice dancing next to the radio. I backstitched one and it looked horrible and I ripped it out. Did it again and said okay I can live with this. It looked like a really fat male or pregnant female mouse. I backstitched the second one and it was horrid. So, I ripped out both of them plus the beige color of them and just stitched it all as part of the creamy yellowy stable. Kinda looks naked there now. I have my toes crossed that I anchored all the loose stitches when I ripped it out. Some of the backstitching is done in quarter stitches over the X's and just very hard for me to do. I fumbled my way through the two birds and the cat and I guess they look okay. There are still two more mice to stitch and I'm not sure what to do. I did get some backstitching done and some fill in.

Halloween House - I started doing the spider web around the outside.
Thankful Critters - worked on the G and I

Naughty little mice!!
Oh Linda, so sorry that you had a difficult time stitching!! I know how irritating ripping is in cross stitch. As you said it does look blank around the radio if compared with the activities going on the roof. If you don't mind, I have a suggestion. Pick any other small character on the roof which you feel look nice, and can easily occupy the space without ripping the back stitching area, rip only the full cross stitches. The character(s) anyways need not be mice, right ? because they are not coming out the way you want.
Your stitching on other projects look very beautiful as always. Love those critters:)
Lovely stitching. Naughty mice. It is the reason I avoid charts with back stitching.
Back stitching can be horrible!! Don't worry to much about the mice, might want to back stitch them your way, not like on the chart. Have a lovely day x
Grr to those mice, what naughty little things they are. Oh my gosh I just love Halloween house even more if that's possible ! It's coiming on so wonderfully! Great work as always Linda.
Aww naughty mice ...
Sweet stitches..
Big hugs x
i've put down pieces of stitching never to pick them up again because the backstitching drove me nuts - i'm trying to convince myself i'm going to enjoy back stitching my tea shop .. hope i dont have any mice in mine, sorry yours gave you trouble -
halloween house is looking really good.
The Stable is looking good even without the mice. Good suggestion to put a different critter in place of the mice. Good progress on the Halloween House. I am still stitching on the tree.
Love all the WIPs.
Great progress! Good luck with that backstitching - it's always so hard to figure out how to get the effect you want, isn't it?
I am sorry the mice was not behaving the HH is looking good and the critters too.
lovely stitching I like all your projects, come back to see the process , sunny kisses from Rio, Alice
That Halloween piece is really coming along. Hope that a little break from the stable makes you ready for more.
I like the idea of pick a different small character, its a great solution. Regardless stable piece is looking wonderful, Linda. Great progress on all 3 wood. love Annette
I think the Stable is looking wonderful, and if you hadn't of mentioned it, I would have never known... Now this will really be YOUR PROJECT - the one and only just like it...
Oh sorry about that backstitching! It's hard to stitch quarter-stitches on Aida. Have you tried using a sharp needle instead?
Halloween House and Thankful Critters look incredible! They'll both be finished this year for sure. It's so fun to be in a SAL with you!
beautiful stitches, like your projects. I am going to start Stable soon, first I have to finish Poppy Wood :)
It doesn't look bad - I wouldn't have noticed, I don't think! I love your progress on everything; really wonderful work! Is your husband still working on Narrow Boat?
Sorry you had a hard time with the mice. Just a thought; replace those mice with mice buttons if you are really not up to stitching it again. Stable is looking good. Love Halloween House.
Sometimes stitching doesn't come easy and it's best to walk away. I've had those days too. Your WIP's do look good though :D
Oh, so sorry you had so much trouble with he mice. In retrospect, this will be an original without the pregnant male mouse. Hopefully you can get past this and complete the piece. It looks wonderful so far!
I think the cat was the reason the mice weren't coming out well, they were scared!!! I don't see anything different and you could always add them in at the end if you miss them.....
I like Lillie's suggestion of using a mouse button or charm. I'd wait until it's finished and see how it looks then. Right now it stands out because you know there's a gap.
Oh dear, those poor little mice and poor Linda - I hate frogging! The stable looks fantastic to me!
Love the Haunted House - so spooky!
hugs, Kaye
It's looking awesome Linda, sorry to hear about your mouse issue.....bummer

Oh no...sorry the mice were giving you such trouble! I like the idea of changing it to a different creature to fill in the 'blank'. At the moment it looks fine as it is though to me.
I am loving Halloween House, it's amazing. I'm going to nag Colin for it I think as I have loved yours all the way through. xx
