My Organized Chaos

Hi Blogger Friends.  I have had several people ask me how I keep track of my starts and how they are kitted up, etc.  So, I thought I would show you my organized chaos.  (You can click on any picture to enlarge)

Bottom shelf on right are crochet books - left misc.  The rest are my collection of novels (that I don't read).  I have all of Nora Roberts and Janet Dailey novels.

Three tubs on left and blue one in middle are yarn.  Green one in front has some of my older starts and charts that are kitted with fabric but not started.

Very top shelf just visible is crochet and cross stitch books plus my collection of crochet and cross stitch calendars.  Next 2 shelves are cross stitch magazines.  Bottom two have a few misc magazines, the rest are Stoney Creek books and leaflets plus my cross stitch books and leaflets that aren't listed in my binder.

Different angle - Three tubs on left and two blue ones are yarn.  There is two more tubs behind blue ones with yarn.

Three drawers on bottom are charts and or kits.  Next two shelves are kits.

My floss.  Hole on middle right is where my 5 DMC floss boxes go.  Tub on bottom holds are my extra DMC floss.  (Over 700 skeins)  They are in baggies that I numbered.  I have at least one extra skein of each color and the most used I have 20 - 30 extra skeins.   They are listed in a notebook with how many of each color that I have.

Top shelf is kits - second shelf is charts.  All of my kits and charts are written in a binder by - charts by designer - kits are listed by company (Dimensions, Janlynn, Design Works, etc)

Top shelf is kits - second shelf is charts.   (I have over 1400 kits and 1000 charts.  (Been collecting since the 70"s)

Top shelf - middle box is all my finishes.  Boxes on each side are aida fabric.  Middle shelf is kits. (Drawer on right is Ursula Michael charts, kits and books.  Bottom drawers are kits and charts.

These three tubs are full of Charles Craft aida fabric in tubes.

This tub has 105 of my starts in it.  They are in gallon baggies and numbered.   (Numbers match my list on sidebar and hopefully my 14 pieces of paper that I need to write in my notebook. )

This is Sassy. lol  No, this is my stitchy chair.  I don't put floss in with my starts.  Those floss boxes on the table hold all the DMC colors.  I work out of them.  The three drawer thingy (I have to finish organizing).  Right now the top drawer has my current SAL pieces in it.  The other two drawers will hold my Turtle Trot pieces.  (The board leaning against the wall sits across me on the black drawer and table.  It is my work table.

My over 500 skeins of yarn.  Some of this yarn was bought in the 70's.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my organized chaos.  Let me know what you think.
Gotta go finish cutting fabric for my JAN./feb starts.

Thanks for looking.   Linda

WOW - you are so organized... I have stuff everywhere; in this corner, that corner, in the closet, in the garage and who knows where else!

I hope I can get a bit more organized this year which I would like to include listing all the names of the charts I have in a spreadsheet.

Linda, that is absolutely amazing - I must take a pic of my chaotic chaos - as you know I keep losing patterns and designs all of the time as I tend to think - oh, I will just chuck it here and I will remember where it is! Not!
You are truly an inspiration. Love it and Love you,

hugs, Kaye

What a stash collection. Wow and I thought I had a lot of stash. I do have a lot of books and magazines along with other craft books and novels. Wouldn't it be cool if we could actually sit down at each others homes and Google over stash:-) I wish I had some stitching buddies I could get together with. You are very organised.:-)

Nice to see how you store everything, Linda--I am in awe at all you have collected!! Nice to have it in one room, too. Mine is scattered among three rooms, unfortunately...

Wow! If my crafts were that organized, I'd never leave the house. My yarn is organized a little but my cross stitch and other craft supplies are in boxes, bins, file cabinets and drawers all over the house.

Fantastic storage ideas! Are you sure that's not the back room of a needlework shop?
I really wish I had a room to myself, my stash is behind the sofa and in a corner of the lounge. Finished pieces not on display are in the bedroom.
